http://scmapdb.com/map:ghost-fuck please explain. i was told it was okay to post, it was there for like a year, now I see it was deleted.
Forum
that map has been named that for over 10 years before SCMDB even existed. are you going to remove my famous 2007 map horsecock next? what about other maps that contain porn images, you want me to name every single map that has anything bad in it and we'll just remove those too?
Looking at the logs, I deleted that. It was tagged as abandoned and then deleted. But it does have a map uploaded to it, so it should generally stay. I'll look into the details of the deletion after work.
So I checked into the map again. The reason the map page was removed is because there is no gameplay. Just box rooms with various pictures. And then the fist and Arnold voice clip, but that's not really enough. My suggestion is make a proper map; release that.
"you want me to name every single map that has anything bad in it"
Actually, yes. That would be good.
Fail Mountain has porn in it. That violated the WikiDot Policy. Sorry Adam, I like the map a lot tho! But if Dynamite, a fellow developer, needs me to point out other maps that have violations I should tell him right?
See how this game works? I could report SCMDB to WikiDot for being in violation. See how this works? See how you can SUCK THE JOY out of living if you live 100% by your twisted fucked up rules?
Thanks for getting back to me.
"Not Enough Gameplay" Is outrageous, a lot of people I know love the map, it is not just a bunch of boxes, i spent weeks on that map it's extremely not right for you to remove my map because you perceive there is not enough gameplay, you would prefer a long hallway where people shoot hgrunts that would be enough gameplay for you?
My map had lots of secrets in it, it had many features in it, it had custom sounds and images, please don't remove my map because it doesn't fit your narrow point of view of gameplay
There are a number of maps violating wikidot policy, but reporting them all seems like more of a witch-hunt than McCarthyism.
Establish a clear set of guidelines that apply to all new maps on the site, new violators will be removed, while posts that are already in violation will remain being "grandfathered" in by existing before such guidelines were created. That being said if wikidot staff come here and demand the removal of content, by all means do so.
I recommend:
1. having a minimum amount of playable material (a walkthrough map like ghostfuck is probably a minimum standard here, being a "walkthrough" map with basic objectives; I would say that maps also need a definite 'ending' requiring something to change the level)
2. having the playable portion of content comply with wikidot's terms of service
3. having a "minimum average playtime" standard, this prevents "shit-posting" of hastily made low quality maps.
Using this standard needs it to be calculated using a minimum of *two* players, reviewers can post the amount of time it takes them to complete the map.
Ghostfuck being currently in violation of 1, 2, and 3 would normally warrant it's removal, but because of it's date of inception should be exempt from these rules.
For specific details of it's 2 violation, it violates the terms of service by including "any Content that contains nudity, violence, pornography, "adult content" or contains links to any other web site with such materials"
Make these rules clear to all members of this site, and keep them posted in well known locations. We don't need another instance of racist violence or penis monsters (both from ragemaps) in main-stream Sven Co-op maps.
